Quilting Fundamentals: Whether you are a beginner or just want to update your skills!

In this class you will learn foundational skills of quilting to build confidence and complete beautiful projects.
What you will learn:
1. What size needle and thread to use for your project.
2. How to cut fabric using a rotary cutter and ruler safely and accurately.
3. How to square up your fabric for cutting.
4. Basic machine piecing techniques. How to sew a precise ¼” seam.
5. Proper pressing techniques to ensure flat and accurate seams and blocks.
6. Squaring up blocks to assemble the quilt top.
Instructor Bio:
Tricia Crockett: Tricia has been teaching in the Portland area since 1987. She taught clothing construction at Fabric Depot from the time it opened until they closed their doors. She also taught all levels of clothing construction at the Art Institute of Portland’s Apparel Design Program for 14 years. She retired in 2014 and since she no longer needed business clothes she started quilting. Tricia currently teaches an Open Sewing Class at Mill End Store, Milwaukie where people can bring their projects, garments or quilting and Tricia will help you complete them. Recently she bought a long arm and is open for long arm quilting.
Tricia has a B.S. in Clothing and Textiles from University of Montana and a Master’s in Education from Argosy University.
Tricia has been active in the Mt. Hood Quilt Guild since 2019.

Doors open at 9:30 for machine set up. Entrance and parking are on the East side of the building.
Cancellation Policy:
MHQG Refund policy: All payments for membership sign ups and renewals are final. Event/Class Cancellation Policy: A minimum of a 10 day notice is needed. A waiting list will be made from paid registrations after the class/event is filled. No refunds can be made unless there is a waiting list, or in the event of no waiting list, you can find a replacement. For emergent situations, please contact the designated Event Contact. Event cancellation by MHQG will result in a refund.
