A Special Feature for this year’s Show is the Silent Auction of Virginia O’Donnell’s quilts. Virginia was very well known and loved in the PNW quilting community. Post retirement from her teaching career she immediately joined the Northwest Quilt Guild and soon after joined the Columbia Stitchery Guild which is now known as the Columbia Fiber Arts Guild. She was an active member of the Clark County Quilt Guild since the early 90’s, especially enjoying her time with the Thread Tales and Art Quilts groups. Most recently, she has been a member of the Mt. Hood Quilt Guild since 2016.

Virginia was an avid student of fiber arts. She loved taking classes in person and online. As a former teacher herself, Virginia had great respect for her quilt teachers be they local or nationally known artists. Furthering her quilting education by learning about color, composition, specialty techniques and use of new tools as well as expanding into watercolor painting, fabric dyeing and Zentangle classes. These challenges and sparks to her creativity were very important to her and added to her expertise in quilting. When she was the Featured artist for Clark County Quilt Guild showing more than 100 of her quilts, a gentleman was overheard asking “Is there a class she hasn’t taken?”

That is why all the proceeds from the auction will start the Virginia O’Donnell Education Fund, which will be used by the Mt. Hood Quilt Guild to enhance their programs and classes.
